ProH20 Half-Marathon on the Bow
Saturday, June 3rd, 2017
The Half Marathon is back! And even better than before!! You won’t find a more scenic half anywhere else! And on pathways the entire length of the course! The route starts at the festival rodeo grounds and leads you south along the creek in Glenbow, past the new Riverfront Park and along the river to the very west edge of Cochrane. Your biggest hill comes early in the race at the 2.5km mark where you climb Mitford Hill! You get a steep downhill about 1km later and follow Glen Boles trail until the turnaround just after the 5km mark. Enjoy the river and mountain views—this is Cochrane at it’s finest!! The hill comes back to haunt you around the 7.5km mark but you get the glorious downhill shortly thereafter and it’s clear sailing from here onward! The course takes you eastward, across the river and into the beautiful neighbourhood of Riversong where you will turnaround once again near the 13km mark on the course. Now’s time to head west back along the river and into Glenbow—don’t get too excited! You don’t get to finish until you have toured the beautiful Cochrane Ranche Historic Site! It might be tempting to take in the farmer’s market, but stick to the course and we will turn you around at the 19km mark and send you back to the finish line! The triple out-and- back gives you great opportunities to size up the competition and cheer on your friends! And the Cochrane Lions are cooking up pancakes and bacon for all the finishers—the bacon alone is worth the hard work!!
