Here are the latest updates for the Footstock Race Weekend.

Hello Everyone:
Just a few things to sort out ....and to share some info.
1. Yes, Race Package Pickup is on FRIDAY JUNE 11TH and not the 12th per my recent email.
2. The Bike Check/Tune Up for those in the Duathlon is scheduled for Friday, June 4th. at Bike Bros in Cochrane- check out the website for more details.

Free Sport Psychology Seminar at the Race Expo and Pickup
Come and get some inside information for the inner game of running. Local sports psychologist John Clubb will be on hand to present some practical strategies for runners of all abilities. John Clubb is an accredited sport psychologist, sports coach and age group triathlete who has completed: London Marathon 3:11, Ironman Canada 10:45, and represented Canada in Duathlon Worlds.
Seminar to be held: 6:30-7:30pm Friday 11 June @ Spray Lake Family Sports Centre

Happy New Year Everyone:
The Footstock 2010 Event - scheduled for June 12th. and 13th. - will
be open for Registration at 12.01am on Jan 9th. (Note...that is JUST
ONE MINUTE PAST MIDNIGHT ON FRIDAY - TOMORROW NIGHT.
* All registrations will be on line - we have spent a lot of money
on forms that ended up in recycling over the years and we are going
with the 'green' technology.
* All events will be capped this year. Make a note of that as you
make your way through the registration!!!
* Saturday will host the Half Marathon, the 10K and the Duathlon!!
Yes...all the major events will run on Saturday!
* Sunday will host the Kids of Steel event in the morning and the 5K
just after noon. The 5K will include the option of the Family Pack -
to a max of 5 people per family. It's amazing how many 'cousins' come
out of the wood work when such options are offered!!!
* Make sure you read everything on that Entry form....it will be a bit
more taxing this year as we have caps and age restrictions on the
longer events.
Something else that is new for the Saturday events. Masses of
feedback about people's t-shirt collections and how they are giving
them away, etc. etc. so we are going to do something different for
runner's merchandise this year but that I will keep as a
surprise...for now. We will keep cotton shirts for the Sunday events
'cos the kids love 'em!

Hello Everyone:
The Footstock 2010 committee is heavy into the planning for the 11th. Annual event set for June 13th. and 14th., 2010 and I thought I would bring you up to speed on what is happening. We have a few changes for next year but registration fees will remain the same. Here are a few items for you to note at this point: * We are hoping to have the on line registration open for Midnight on January 3, 2010. That will depend on a few factors outside of our control but I will send you plenty of notice. We will NOT be handling hard print registration forms for this event. All registrations will be on line. This is becoming the standard in such events and allows for better management of the event overall.
* All events will be capped this year. We had a massive turnout for the 2009 event and ran into some issues with congestion on the trails. Hopefully, we can manage that better for you all this year!! The Kids of Steel 'sold out' in 6 days in January of this year and will be capped again!!! *
We have moved a few events around. We found that we were hitting Father's Day for the Sunday events on an ongoing basis so we have turned Sunday into "Family Day" with the Kids of Steel event in the morning and the Family 5K just after noon. The 5K will be on roads so that will make it a little easier for those of you with strollers/chariots etc. * That means, of course, that the Duathlon will become part of the program for Saturday. The 2010 Duathlon will follow the same course as this year's event but will have a longer second run phase to bring every one back to the formal finish line at the Spray Lakes Family Recreation centre. The first run and bike course will essentially remain the same. Magic!!!
* We have had some feedback on the removal of the Marathon but, rest assured, it may be gone for a while but not forgotten. We will bring it back one day - we are in search of the perfect marathon course to offer those interested in that event. It will come back but not for 2010. Keep an eye on our website www.footstock.ca for updates as we near the launch of the registration. I will also issue an email once things are in place.
