All participants must attend the pre-race briefing at 10:10am.

HEAT TIMES

Athletes must arrive 15 minutes before the start time listed below. They will be marshalled into the pool area 5-10 minutes before their start time.

We will not begin a heat earlier than the time listed above. However, it is possible that there may be delays. We will stick to the schedule as much as possible.

The transition area opens at 6:30am and closes at 10am. Bikes, helmets, shoes, clothing, race bibs must be set out by 10am.

Remember to leave cycling / running shoes in transition and bring another pair to wear before the race starts.

WELCOME

Welcome to the Footstock Timbits Trevor Dickson Memorial Kids’ Triathlon! If you’re visiting from outside Cochrane, we’re glad you’re here.

This event has been part of our community for over 20 years. Founded by Trevor Dickson, the race celebrates participation, lifelong fitness, and fun. Every athlete is a winner for showing up and giving their best.

Please review this information carefully with your triathlete before race day. We encourage families to review the course maps and, if possible, pre-ride or pre-run the course.

IMPORTANT FOR PARENTS

Bike Safety: Ensure your child’s bike is roadworthy (tires inflated, chain lubed, brakes working). Big Hill Cycle will offer free basic safety checks beginning May 19.

During the Race, parents

• must stay out of the transition area once racing begins.

• remain off the bike course (roads remain open to traffic).

• spectate from designated viewing areas only.

Volunteers will assist athletes in transition. If your child requires an aide, this can be accommodated. Please contact Meredith at racedirector@footstock.ca.

PARKING

Please park in the South and West sections of the SLS Centre lot.Transition is in the Northeast section.

RACE DAY OVERVIEW

Transition closes at 10:00 AM sharp. All bikes must be racked before 10:00 AM. Bring a pair of shoes that your triathlete will wear while awaiting the heat start.

Mandatory Athlete Briefing: 10:15 AM in the NE parking lot (near ATCO stage). All athletes must attend.

Arrival: Athletes should be onsite 15 minutes before their heat time.

D (2013–2014) – 200m | 9.2km | 2.5kmC (2015–2016) – 150m | 4.6km | 1.5km

Smiley (2021+) – 50m swim | 300m bike | 300m run 

2010 athletes are invited to participate this year in recognition of the 2025 cancellation.

RACE PACKAGE PICK-UP AND BODY MARKING

Saturday, May 30 | 4:00–7:00 PM Outside SLS Centre (Farmers’ Market area).

Out-of-town athletes may attend on SUNDAY:

• 6:00–7:00 AM (running races)

• 8:30–9:30 AM (kids’ triathlon)

Mandatory body marking (for safety reasons) will take place at Race Package Pick-up.

RACE ESSENTIALS

Race Bib:

• Must be worn on front for bike and run

• Letter-coded by age group

• Timing chip worn on left ankle

Transition Rules:

• Helmets fastened before mounting

• Walk bikes in transition

• Mount/dismount only at designated areas 

No headphones at any time on the race course.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

Swim: Pool at SLS Centre (life jackets available).

Bike:

• Counter-clockwise loop

• Roads remain open to traffic

• Stay inside pylons and keep left

• Sharp turn on A course

• Follow volunteer directions

Run:

• Bow River pathway (northbound)

• Letter-coded turnaround points

• Water stations at 500m & 1km

POST-RACE CELEBRATION

Join us in the Festival Area near transition. All finishers receive medals. Food provided by Cochrane Tim Hortons. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy the celebration!
